What a magical evening we shared at our Howick Kindergarten Disco!
This year’s theme was Superheroes and Princesses, and our kindergarten was transformed into a world of imagination, adventure, and celebration. Children arrived dressed as their favourite characters, filling the hall with colour, excitement, and plenty of sparkle.
The dance floor was buzzing with energy as tamariki danced, laughed, and enjoyed spending time with their friends and whānau.
A special thank you goes to Amelia, our Parent Committee Chairperson, who did an outstanding job organising this event. From decorating the venue and setting up activities to serving food, selling lucky dips, and packing away at the end of the evening, our families demonstrated the true spirit of community. It was wonderful to see so many parents working alongside teachers to make the event such a success.
After the event, we asked the children what they enjoyed most about the disco. Their responses were heartwarming:
“Eating food!”
“Dress-ups!”
“Dancing!”
“Mum and Dad with me!”
Hearing these voices reminded us what made the evening so special. While the disco was full of fun activities, what stood out most for many children was simply sharing the experience with the people they love.
Events like our Disco Night highlight the importance of strong partnerships between kindergarten and whānau. When families and kaiako work together, we create meaningful experiences that strengthen children’s sense of belonging and connection within our community.
Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, and supported this event. Your generosity and involvement helped create a memorable evening filled with laughter, dancing, and community spirit.
We are proud of the strong partnerships that make Howick Kindergarten such a special place and look forward to creating many more wonderful memories together.
