We had a very special Mother’s Day morning tea at Onehunga Kindergarten — a beautiful time to come together and celebrate all that our Māmā and mother figures do.

Not only do they care for and nurture their tamariki and whānau, but they also play such an important role in our kindy community. Whether it’s helping with the baking roster, supporting fundraisers, or stepping in wherever needed, we are so grateful for the time, care, and generosity they share.

These moments reflect the values of Whānau tangata | Family and Community and Ngā hononga | Relationships. The wider world of family and community is an integral part of the early childhood curriculum, and children learn through responsive relationships with people, places, and things. It is through these connections that our tamariki experience a strong sense of belonging.

Our morning tea was a small way of saying thank you — ngā mihi nui — and acknowledging all the incredible mahi that often happens quietly behind the scenes.

It was wonderful to see such a great turnout, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming everyone back next Mother’s Day.
