Kia ora and welcome to Sunnyvale Kindergarten
Relationships at heart – Each child is unique and when they are known, appreciated and secure in their relationships they are be ready to learn. Through developing caring, trusting and respectful relationships children build important social skills they will continue to develop through life.
Our environment – At Sunnyvale Kindergarten we have a welcoming environment where tamariki have the opportunity to explore, create and learn how to get along with others. Our tamariki love learning both in our spacious and well-resourced indoor space and our amazing outdoor space.
Learning through play – It is important to us that children have fun at kindergarten and that they develop confidence in themselves by being given the time, environment and support to unfold naturally. It is through play that children not only learn mathematical, scientific and literacy concepts, but also develop resilience through making their own choices, becoming more independent, as well taking risks, taking turns, resolving problems, and learning to see themselves as learners.
Space to explore – Tamariki are so creative – they use every corner of the kindergarten both inside and out to explore and learn in. From our gardens and wooded areas to the busy art areas, the sandpit and the veggie garden, all spaces are available to them throughout their day. Outdoors, we see them learning to work together, building their muscles and problem solving skills with our large range of equipment.
Our team – We have a friendly, multicultural team reflecting our community and whanau. We are qualified, professional ECE teachers who role model and actively encourage respectful communication through which children learn and grow. We support tamariki in their endeavors and celebrate their successes. We feel privileged to work together in unity with whānau and our community; developing a positive learning environment where hopes and dreams for all children are realised.
