At Bucklands Beach Kindergarten we are known for our dedicated teaching team, amazing learning environment and happy tamariki that are kind, engaged, and curious explorers.

Our learning environment – We offer an open-ended environment designed to support and encourage every child’s interest and exploration. We have a mixed age group ranging from two to five years old, where we see children foster tuakana-teina relationships, kindness, curiosity and create friendships that can last a life time. Our environment is a place where tamariki can test their ideas, follow their interests and create working theories about the world around them.

Amazing outdoors – We offer an inviting spacious outdoor space where children are able to explore and play. From making magic potions, intrepid bug hunts, to brave explorers discovering new magical lands and creatures, our beautiful outdoor area provides such fantastic opportunities for children’s imaginations to flourish and soar. Our outdoor environment is the heart of our kindergarten, where we explore, connect and learn. The space is open ended where our children are able to follow their own lead, connect with nature and enjoy the peacefulness of the trees, birds, and lots of fun.

Dedicated teaching team – We have a team of enthusiastic, fun-loving teachers who are committed to providing experiences that encourage all of our children to try new things, discover new interests, provoke thinking and problem solving. As a teaching team we value kindness, compassion, collaboration, and contribution, as we encourage children to be confident, curious, creative and kind. We know how privileged we are to teach young children and cherish the special moments that we have with them on a daily basis. We work in partnership with our parents and whānau to meet their individual aspirations for their child. Our kaiako build strong relationships with children by learning their world, needs and interests and are able to support children’s developing social and emotional skills, dispositions and wellbeing.

Flourishing friendships – Friendships can bring more happiness to our lives than anything else! Having a special friend can feel like absolute magic! We love to watch our tamariki flourish in friendship making, enhancing their social skills, their own personal self esteem, confidence and happiness. We hope to provide a home away from home where relationships are vital and children know that this is their place. Kindness is a big part of our Kindergarten and is something we value deeply as we promote an inclusive environment, where everyone has a place and are treated with kindness and respect. We see our tamariki display kindness, manaakitanga and care to each other every day, and is a part of our daily routines and conversations.

Indoor spaces – Cutting, moulding, dancing, reading, role playing, drawing and so much more! Our indoor environment provides a place for play that supports many areas of our curriculum from art and sensory experiences to role playing and reading stories. Tamariki feel a sense of belonging and are able to follow their interests in any direction. We have separate spaces for different types of play and provide places for children that encourage both solitary and group play.

School readiness – Our curriculum is built from NZs Early Childhood Education curriculum Te Whāriki, to guide and support children towards the next step in their learning journey. At Bucklands Beach Kindergarten we provide an environment rich in opportunity for your child to explore their ideas, challenge themselves and develop life-long skills. Your child will be supported as they develop dispositions, communication skills, social and emotional skills, gross and fine motor skills, self help skills and more. We strive to empower children as they create a strong sense of belonging, confidence, and develop skills that prepare them for school.

Affordable and high-quality – We welcome tamariki aged 2-5 years old and offer 20hrs free every week for all ages. There are also additional subsidies you may be eligible for via WiNZ and Family Boost, we can support you with information on this.
