Our mud kitchen was built by a kindergarten grandfather, who made this using recycled pallets. It has been a vision of ours to utilise our mud kitchen to create a meaningful play space for the children. And so over level 3, we took on the exciting project of revamping this area in partnership with our children and community.

We brainstormed ideas with the children, making notes of their wishlist and asking them their vision for their mud kitchen.

”Flowers to make our kitchen beautiful”
”A tap”
“We have to sweep the kitchen”
”Baby spoons and big spoons”
”Plates and bowls”
”A microwave”

We then put their wishlist and plan out to our community via Storypark.  Donations such as pots, pans, and even a picnic bench started to pour in and we were thrilled. What followed was a 3-week collaborative journey with the community and children as we revamped our mud kitchen using recycled materials, donations from our families, and a trip to the op-shop to make our children’s vision come alive!
