We decided that since Christmas at Anchorage Park Kindergarten this year will look different than it has in the past, the kaiako wanted to send our children some extra Christmas cheer. We created Christmas treasure bags for each child to let them know we have been thinking about them all.

These special bags were full of projects, ideas, crafts and lots of love and best wishes to the children and their whānau. The children could decide to make something everyday from the collection of 16 different gifts, leading up to Christmas. We also included special certificates for each child, with all the amazing things we knew about them, and a kindergarten group photo that we created of all the children’s individual photos put together. Each child came with a parent to the outside of kindergarten to collect their bags with masks and used social distancing, and we had some special Christmas elves contactlessly handing these out. The teachers inside waved to the children and parents from the gate.

It was so special for all the children who hadn’t been a part of our Term 4 bubble to receive these treasure bags, and feel included and loved. Our children who had been in our kindergarten bubble also received them. It was so awesome to be able to bring the families all some Christmas happiness and for the families to feel included in our Christmas celebrations.

Our parents said:

“Just to say how grateful we are for the Christmas packs today, we have had lots of fun crafting with all the supplies, thank you.”

“Thanks for those amazing bags, you are all soooo wonderful and we are so super lucky to have you all.”

“Thank you all so much for this sooo amazing, I can’t believe how many great ideas are in that bag, thank you so much I am in awe!”

“Thank you for constantly thinking about and supporting our families.”

“Wow you guys, how amazing, how lucky are our kids, the time and thought you put into these is incredible.”

“Thank you, it feels a bit more like Christmas at our house.”

“It was definitely an enjoyable moment for my child to open their bag.”
