With our parents supporting our literacy programme, we held two fun Book Character Days at Anchorage Park Kindergarten, with the tamariki and kaiako dressing up as characters from their favourite pukapuka. Over the term, we have had a huge interest in traditional stories and popular books driving our literacy development. We are aware that we have not had the same engagement of parents contributing to our programme and this gave us a fun opportunity for parents to be included by dressing up as a character from a book and reading their book to a group of children. So much fun happened with our book character parades and our story times.
