Chelsea kindergarten’s head teacher has a long history working with parents and whanau creating community drama projects, it is such a wonderful community building experience for everyone. Parents who may have never done anything like this before gently ease themselves past their comfort zone to enter a world of magic and role play they may have not been in since their own childhood!
As for the children, you can never have enough magic in childhood! It is the stuff that fuels the imagination and provides wonder and delight! It is so empowering for children to see adults play, and join in the colourful world of fantasy play! This will be our first foray into community drama projects at Chelsea Kindergarten. The Mad Hatters tea party links with our recent tradition of drinking herbal teas-many of which we have growing in our garden. It is so dear “Anyone for tea?” and the children come running! Or if we haven’t made pots of lemon or borage or mint tea quick enough the children come enthusiastically inquiring “Wheres the tea?!”
Our Mad Hatters tea party is our farewell to Amanda who has been relieving with us since the beginning of the year. She will be Alice, and is off to an exciting new adventure down a rabbit hole five doors down from her house. This drama event is first of many exciting adventures to come here at Chelsea Kindergarten, watch this space!
