At Onehunga Kindergarten, we are deeply committed to supporting our tamariki as they take the important step from early childhood education to primary school. We maintain strong, collaborative relationships with our local schools – particularly Onehunga Primary, where most of our children transition, as well as Royal Oak Primary and Te Papapa School. 

Kaiako take pleasure in attending some of the school visits to support children during this transition. We find that having a familiar face present helps tamariki feel more confident and at ease in their new environment. Through regular communication, visits, and shared transition practices, we work closely with these schools to ensure each child experiences a smooth, positive, and supported start to their school journey – with their whānau right alongside them.
