Tamariki are taking the lead for Christmas preparation at Howick Kindergarten!

As we get closer to Christmas, our tamariki are enthusiastic to do all things Christmas! They have come up with a plan to change our Fairy Room to a Christmas theme, like Santa’s Den. Kaiako Arden started by brainstorming with tamariki on how the room could look, and Xavier took charge of this project and drew a draft planning picture alongside his peers. Arden and Xavier spoke with everyone – including all children and all teachers – to ask where they preferred to put the Christmas tree. It ended up with 14 votes for keeping the tree on the mat and 13 votes for moving it to the den. It’s great to see everyone has been working diligently on actioning the plan. As a team, we have the fireplace, the fire, the holly and the Christmas stockings done so far. Josheil especially enjoyed warming up her bottom in front of the pretend fire and many friends found it interesting and joined her. After that, we even had some volunteer firefighters to help put out the fire.

The plan for the monster Christmas truck is up next and we have already booked the boxes for it. We will get working on it this week and get it ready before our Christmas party this Friday!
