Kia ora and welcome to Pt England Kindergarten

Whanaungatanga — This is the most important part of who we are and is at the heart of Pt England Kindergarten. We work in partnership with our whānau who play an important role in our day to day life at kindergarten, bringing a wealth of knowledge and value to our learning. Whanaungatanga is an integral part of Pt England.

Learning through play — Our kindergarten philosophy is based on free play and understanding how important play is for our tamariki. Tamariki are encouraged to unleash their curiosity, explore and discover the wonders of the natural and physical world through play. Play supports tamarki to use their imaginations as they explore and solve problems.

Inclusive Learning — Each tamaiti is on their own learning journey and we pride ourselves on our ability to support each tamaiti and their individual needs. We undertake continual professional development and also work with agencies such as Ministry of Education , Te Whatū Ora and our community paediatrician, health liaison, Dr. Ali Leversha, to ensure that the best possible learning outcomes are achieved for tamariki and their whānau.

Manaakitanga — Manaaki is the act of being kind and generous. This is also a part of who we are, and is woven throughout our philosophy. We encourage tamariki to take care of themselves and others, and to nurture their environment, fostering their natural curiosity.

Specialist Care — Our teaching team is made up of passionate and highly skilled kaiako who provide a quality learning and teaching environment for our tamariki. All kaiako are fully registered and qualified early childhood teachers. Our programme is underpinned by Te Whāriki; the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum and assessments are written using Te Whatu Pōkeka as our guide. Kaiako also undertake professional development and engage in programmes such as Incredible Years that support tamariki with building their self regulation skills.
