St Heliers Kindergarten held a combined Mothers Day/ Pink Ribbon Breakfast at the end of May. It was a great success and attended by a huge number of whānau and tamariki. Lots of the Mums said it was a great way to start the day, and it gave them the chance to really chat and connect with other mothers.
For the breakfast, we all met at the kindergarten, at 8am on a Friday morning for a shared breakfast of hot coffee, fresh fruit salad made by the tamariki, toast, banana loaf, muffins, yoghurt and muesli.
During the month, we also raised $342 by selling raffle tickets for prizes including wine, chocolates and toiletries.
We sold lots of ‘Pink Ribbon’ Merchandise, including ‘Boob’ keyrings, Pink reusable bags, pens and nail files.
This month of activities was easy to organize and there is plenty of online support from the Breast Cancer Foundation if needed. We received a box of goodies to use for the ‘Breakfast’, and more merchandise was easily available.
It was a great way to raise some much-needed funds for Breast Cancer Research, and was well supported by the whānau.
