Kia ora and welcome to Glen Eden Kindergarten
Unique and valued – At Glen Eden Kindergarten tamariki/children are at the centre of everything we do. We view them as capable, competent learners who arrive at our door with their own kete full of knowledge and experiences. We want all our tamariki to be “healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.”
Skilled teaching team – Our kindergarten has qualified and registered teachers with dedicated support staff. Our teachers are committed to and passionate about early childhood education. Our quality learning programmes are based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki.
Proud of who we are – Our teaching team reflect the cultural diversity of our vibrant community. We are of Māori, Samoan, Indian and European descent and make everyone who comes into our kindergarten feel welcome and valued. We celebrate our diversity with cultural events and activities. Our tamariki love to see themselves reflected in kindy life and feel proud of who they are.
Active learning – We are lucky to have an expansive outdoor environment, with a sandpit, a playground and plenty of room for active play. We also have a couple of pets our tamariki just love. We have a strong connection to our wider community with regular visits to the local library for story time sessions.
Health and wellbeing – We promote healthy eating and are proud to have a healthy heart award. Whānau supply tamariki with a lunchbox each day with support from staff around healthy choices.
Our offer – Glen Eden Kindergarten is licensed for up to 40 children per day. We enrol tamariki from 2 years of age and offer a morning session from 8.30am to 12.30pm to help with the transition to kindergarten. All children are eligible for 20hrs free education and care with us every week.
