Roskill South kindergarten has been selected as a finalist for the Prime Minister’s Education Excellence Awards in the category of Excellence in Engaging, for introducing visual image to support children revisit their learning and share it with their families, creating a 3 way partnership between children, teachers, parents and the community.
This category celebrates working together as a community to transform relationships and achievement, leading to improved and sustained outcomes for all children and young people. Roskill South kindergarten showed how a kindergarten engaged with self-review and focused interventions can achieve a high functioning service, influencing educators both nationally and internationally. Children, their families and whānau are involved in the assessment and planning cycles and children’s portfolios are used as a tool for revisiting and informing learning, and to also build children’s learner identity.
