Everyone at Epsom South Kindergarten was very excited to have the opportunity to take part in Auckland Whale Tales Art Trail 2022.

We are grateful to Harcourts Epsom for sponsoring a mini whale tail. It has been a great experience for the tamariki at our kindergarten to be involved in this learning programme. Epsom South Kindergarten is an Enviroschool and we shared information with our kindergarten community to promote a healthy ocean.

For the past five weeks the tamariki have been involved in this very special project, decorating a mini whale tail inspired by the Brydes Whale.

First, kaiako and tamariki talked about whales and what they need to survive: an abundant healthy ocean. Tamariki imagined what that might look like and whānau contributed their ideas too. After that we gathered the ideas together, and this is the children’s colourful interpretation of sea creatures in a healthy ocean.

The children have been creative with their illustrations on the Whale Tail and they are very happy with it.

We have now finished the project and our completed mini pod tail will be displayed in Epsom Library from 14th March.
