At Kauri Park Kindergarten bicultural practice is woven into our programme in meaningful ways. Kotahitanga has been especially important to us in staying connected to our whānau and communities during this pandemic.
In preparation for Matariki this year, our children planted spinach seeds at kindergarten. They took their role of kaitiaki very seriously as they provided all the necessary nourishments for their seeds to grow. They have now taken their spinach plants home to plant in their māra with whānau and harvest for Matariki.
Bunnings Warehouse and Resene kindly donated us wood and paint. We will be sending home a whānau art project to work on and bring back to kindergarten. We will add these to our tāepa to mark and celebrate Te Tau Hou.
