Kia ora and welcome to Cascades Kindergarten

Situated in the beautiful Lloyd Elsmore Park with it’s wide open spaces Cascades Kindergarten is lucky to be completely surrounded by trees and parklands.

Sustainable learning – We are proud to be part of the Enviroschool programme and are guided by the Enviroschools Kaupapa as we promote a healthy, peaceful and sustainable learning programme. Our learning environment inspires individuals and the wider community to make positive choices for a sustainable future.

Our values – The values of Manaaki – Kindness, Compassion and Empathy are shown towards each other, our place and our Earth.  We show mindful consideration as we create a peaceful/rangimaria, calm atmosphere and a way of being.

Proud of who we are – Our kindergarten families and teachers are a true reflection of our community, made up of multiple ethnicities and cultures. We recognise and celebrate special occasions with our families where children learn about each other and show pride in who they are.

Learning together – We support learning, care and development for children ranging in ages from 2 years to 5 years old.  Children learn alongside each other, supporting and role modelling and engaging in playful learning together.

Specialist care – Our kaiako are skilled in implementing the Incredible Years Teacher Programme which supports young children with self-regulation and their social, emotional and academic competence.

Knowledge sharing – We love to draw on the knowledge and experiences of our whānau and local community to engage and inspire our children. We invite them to share their skills, knowledge and resources with us.  We’ve loved learning about how rockets and satellites work as well as extending our interests in fossils and dinosaurs when ‘Willow the bone lady’ came to share her knowledge with us.

Education connections – We are very active members of our Kahui Ako (Community of Learning) and participate in professional development with local school teachers. We also work alongside our local primary schools to ensure up-to-date transition to school procedures.

Family involvement – We have a Parent/Whānau Support Group made up of our kindergarten parents who collaborate on fundraisers to support our kindergarten. We also enjoy celebrating special events together and having families spend time with us, helping out and having fun.

We welcome you to come and visit us, we’d love to show you all we have to offer your child.
