Last year, one of Sandringham Kindergarten’s parents, a Police officer, visited the kindergarten. The tamariki were so interested in catching the “baddies” that the teachers turned their old fairy house into a police station which parents helped paint. New police uniforms and resources were purchased to help the children develop their dramatic play further.
Three police officers attended the grand opening of the police station and talked to the tamariki about the role police play in our community.
The police station has been a huge success and helped children develop their working theories about the role that police play in the real world, as well as their values for what is right and wrong.
