Kia ora and welcome to Westmere Kindergarten
At Westmere Kindergarten our qualified teaching team promote a peaceful environment, reflecting the values of a caring society. Teachers foster an enthusiasm for learning, modelling respect, kindness, participation and cooperation through meaningful conversations.
We have been a community hub for 70 years, providing quality education and care for local families, where children and their parents make lifelong connections with others in the community. We have warm relationships with tamariki and their whānau who are actively involved in kindergarten life.
Our spacious natural outdoor environment has many opportunities for exploration and discovery. Tamariki learn respect for our natural world, as they care for insects, flowers and vegetable gardens. They learn about sustainable practices as we reduce, re-use and recycle. Our tamariki are the kaitiaki of our place, ultimately learning how to care for Papatūānuku. Tamariki love having space to explore and challenge their physical learning and development.
We are a well-resourced kindergarten providing a rich, varied curriculum extending on children’s interests and skills. Our learning programme allows for continued exploration and project work as children extend their knowledge. Children learn through play experiencing literacy, numeracy and science throughout the daily programme. The majority of our tamariki go on to Westmere School. We work closely with the school to support the children as they transition to the next stage of their learning journey.
Please come and visit our exciting Kindergarten. We’d love to share our welcoming space with you.
