Kia ora and welcome to Blockhouse Bay Kindergarten
At Blockhouse Bay Kindergarten kaiako provide a positive, safe learning environment for all. We support tamariki to develop their self-esteem and confidence, so they feel empowered to ask questions, try something new and believe in their potential for greatness!
Play is learning – Learning through play supports the social, emotional and moral development of our tamariki. We provide a wide range of experiences and activities to engage and inspire children to give things a go and extend their learning.
We love learning outdoors – Our large outdoor area is an exciting place for tamariki to play and explore, developing their independence and confidence. Tamariki learn about being Kaitiaki (guardians) of our kindergarten environment, caring for our plants and gardens and learning about all the life within it. We’re lucky to have a large outdoor covered deck, meaning even in the rain, we can enjoy the fresh air!
Proud of who we are – We have great respect for the multi-cultural diversity within our community. We value the sharing of cultures, language, values and beliefs. We all learn alongside each other, bringing a richness and depth to the kindy experience.
A community of learning – We have relationships with schools in our area through the work we do within our Kahui Ako. This helps us foster relationships with a wide range of local services. Our tamariki go off to a number of local schools within our learning community including, Blockhouse Bay, New Windsor, Marshall Laing, Chaucer and Iqra.
Our teachers are experienced in the Engage and Alert Programmes to help with self regulation in children aswell as the Incredible Years training programme.
We welcome you to visit our wonderful kindergarten, meet our friendly team and see all we have to offer your tamariki.
