Our Anchorage Park parent/whānau group created a wonderful evening for our kindergarten to find a new way to come together as a community after so many changes within our local area. This has been due to many new housing projects and families moving into our area as well as the challenges of Auckland Transport flyover and busway construction.

Walking down the driveway you could hear children and their parents exclaiming in delight as they saw their kindergarten all lit up like a magical garden.  No matter what age or gender there was pure fun, joy, delight, excitement with all the wonderful areas that were created and could be explored by everyone.

You could discover Moana in the waka under the stars, dinosaurs roaring in the cave, fairies lighting the trees and fluttering in the garden, lanterns lit and hung on the trees, planets of the solar system were floating above, walk among the jellyfish floating around you, find floating glittery lights in the water, explore/play shadow shapes, enjoy the music as the lights flickered and bubbles filled in the air.

Children had their own light decorations of headbands, decorations, torches and glowsticks.  Parents over many many years came back to visit with their children, community members of different ages came to visit and explore with current parents/families. A magical wonderful evening that left everyone feeling good.
