During 2020 we investigated our local area – empowering tamariki and their whānau to be kaitiaki of our place and to feel a sense of connection and belonging here. This has been a focus of our Internal Evaluation and has guided our Enviroschools mahi too. At the end of 2020 we achieved our Bronze Enviroschools Award and on the 5 February we unveiled a carved pare created for us by Blaine Te Rito. Our carving is named Owairaka and symbolises our maunga Owairaka, our awa Te Auaunga and its waterfall and our spring that flows from Owairaka called Te Wai Unuroa o Wairaka. We are very humbled to have such a beautiful piece at our kindergarten and are grateful to everyone who has supported us on our journey.
