Here at Sylvia Park Kindergarten, we have been busy transforming our outdoor space with the purpose of making it beautiful, functional and inviting for our whānau.

We had a lot of empty space next to our swings so we approached Bunnings Mt Wellington to see if they could help us make a garden there. They not only built us a huge garden; we were all given lots of vegetable and fruit seedlings to start us off. The tamariki have been amazing kaitiaki of the garden, caring for the plants and watching them grow big and strong.

With this garden we will be teaching tamariki the importance of eating vegetables and showing them that growing your own food is rewarding and delicious. We will be using the vegetables to make soup over the colder months as well as baking healthy snacks like scones. Now when you walk into our Kindergarten, you are instantly greeted with this beautiful garden. Thanks a bunch Bunnings!
