I am so looking forward to what nature shares today…
Prepared, gumboots on, eyes wide-open … standing still to be immersed in the beauty that surrounds me.

My first impression is always of breath, breathing steadily in rhythm with the heartbeat of the land. It never fails to slow me down where I appreciate the oneness of time and place again …

Today I greeted the harakeke plant long overdue for weeding. It beckoned me I am sure, pulling me inward, till I heard words conveyed not spoken –

ko au ko koe, ko koe ko au, I am you and you are me, we are one … I felt embraced. A pause in time for this remarkable plant to communicate with me.

Standing still, I felt the breath of wind upon my face and was again guided to the nīkau tree with fronds waving in the breeze noting beauty in form and shape. I moved quietly and gently noticing and greeting plants I had not seen closely before.

Standing still I spotted a lonely flower attractive to a bee. Watching the work of a bee brought a smile to my face as I shared a short moment in time in it’s life space.

Today nature was my teacher, I wonder what I will notice next, I just have to stand still and wait……
