Howick Kindergarten  tamariki, teachers, parents and whānau went on a great adventure to snowplanet this term. It was a exciting build up from experiences in the Kindergarten around seasons of the year, sensory play and plenty of interaction through conversations, causing curiosity for our tamariki about how we get snow, what it feels like and how does it goes from a solid to a liquid as it melts, how we can go down the mountain if all the snow melts. As you can imagine these conversations were rich  bringing much joy to our passionate teachers as we embarked on this trip with children, explored and made sense of the whole experience. For some children and whānau, they had never experienced snow, what a delight it was to see such joy as children and families embraced different experiences during this snowplanet trip. From snow ball throwing , toboggans, sensory play in the snow  and simply just having  fun.

We value the partnership we share with all our families who made this trip  a success with their collaboration and participation, alongside all  tamariki. The stories shared during this trip amongst families raised a connection to building whanaungatanga which brings our Howick Kindergarten community closer together in rich meaningful ways.
