Wearing traditional Tongan clothing, Eleanor and her mum, conversed in Tongan, and explained the process of making items they brought to show the children. Eleanor, with her Mum’s encouragement, performed a traditional Tongan dance. She wore her traditional dance costume (tauòlunga) and wrap (kiekie). Children took the opportunity to feel and smell green coconut (niu mata) and brown coconut (niu motuu). They explored the continental breakfast (kai pongipongi) and felt the texture of the mat (fala) and tapa cloth (ngatu). It was a beautiful celebration enjoyed by the teaching team and children!
