Kia ora and welcome to Pakuranga Kindergarten
Welcome to Pakuranga Kindergarten, where the journey of discovery begins in an extraordinary learning environment! We take immense pride in offering an exceptional and enriching space that nurtures young minds and fuels a lifelong love for learning.
Inspired learning – At Pakuranga Kindergarten, we believe every child is a unique and capable learner. Our environment reflects this in every corner, fostering warm and respectful relationships where children enjoy a sense of security and belonging. Here’s why our kindergarten stands out as an amazing place for your child to learn and grow:
Our Kaiako – Our kaiako/teaching team at Pakuranga Kindergarten are passionately dedicated to equipping children with essential life skills that empower them to be confident, capable, and compassionate individuals. We build strong, affirming, responsive relationships with children to develop their social skills. Kaiako are skilled in implementing the Incredible Years Teacher Programme which supports young children with self-regulation and their social, emotional and academic competence.
The great outdoors – What truly sets us apart is our expansive outdoor learning environment, a vast canvas where children are encouraged to unleash their curiosity, explore and discover the wonders of the natural world. Supporting the development of children’s physical skills at Pakuranga Kindergarten is paramount, as it lays a strong foundation for a child’s overall development, enabling them to build confidence, coordination, and a lifelong appreciation for an active and healthy lifestyle.
Our philosophy – Our learning programme is based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki. We feel strongly that children making their own decisions, having their voice heard and feeling confident and empowered is at the heart of what we do. These core features of our philosophy closely align with the Te Ao Māori concept of mana. We acknowledge the importance of being kaitiaki of Papātūanuku and have developed sustainable practices within our kindergarten alongside our whānau and community.
Proud of who we are – We acknowledge and value Te Tiriti O Waitangi. Our learning programme promotes bi-cultural awareness and understanding by including Tikanga Māori and Te Reo within our daily practice. We celebrate, value and respect the rich diversity of our kindergarten community by providing an inclusive, welcoming and warm environment.
For the love – Our Kindergarten is part of a non-profit organisation with a strong family focus. Whānau are an integral part of kindy life, bringing a wealth of knowledge and value to our learning. Our teaching team provides a quality teaching and learning environment by developing and supporting staff relationships where individual and collective knowledge is shared and valued. We see our professional growth and development as a means of assuring a high standard of teaching.
