Sense of community – Our kindergarten is in the heart of Maraetai’s beautiful coastal community. We build strong relationships with our tamariki and their families/whānau who develop a real a sense of belonging to our kindergarten. We are proud to have multi-generations of families with us and welcome new families to discover all we have to offer.
Inspired learning- Our learning programme is based on an emergent curriculum and Te Whāriki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum. We follow the children’s interests and ideas; including both teacher-planned experiences and interactions that arise spontaneously. Every day, we offer a range of engaging activities, from arts, crafts, baking, carpentry, outdoor exploration, gardening and more.
School connections – Being located next to Maraetai Beach School, creates opportunities for visits by school children to read stories, share events and see their cultural groups perform like kapa haka, which enhances school readiness and belonging.
Our kaiako – Our 100% qualified and experienced teachers nurture a love of learning through child-led exploration and free play. We work alongside our families to support the aspirations of each child and their whānau. Using strategies from Incredible Years and ENGAGE, we teach self-regulation and social skills though play. All our teachers are committed to ongoing professional development to extend their knowledge, skills and professional requirements as a means of ensuring a high standard of teaching.
We welcome children aged 2-5 years old offer 20hrs free every week for all ages. We have a minimal fee for additional hours, making us a very affordable, high-quality option for early learning.
