Kia ora and welcome to Rānui Kindergarten
Community at heart – Our community is at the heart of all that we do at Rānui Kindergarten. We are lucky to see many family generations graduate through our kindergarten over the years. We have a wonderful Parent Whānau Group, who are involved in the running of our kindergarten, supporting us with fundraisers, and sharing ideas of what they would love to see implemented in the kindergarten. Our families have been so impressed with the kindergarten experience that many have been inspired to pursue ECE as a career. We have supported and encouraged them along the way, empowering them in their own learning journey. We are so proud!
Celebrating our diversity – We are a multicultural and diverse teaching team passionate about our kindergarten (one of our teachers has taught here for over 15 years!). We love to celebrate the various cultures within our kindergarten and enjoy cultural events and celebrations with our families.
Connection with Papatūānuku / Nature – Our kindergarten is very spacious, consisting of a beautiful orchard where the children enjoy munching on our oranges and feijoas over the seasonal months. We also have kindergarten pets – a bunny rabbit, fish, and an axolotl, as the children learn to foster empathy and love for nature and its beings.
Learning at our kindergarten – We have a calm environment, and follow children’s rhythms in our routines. Te-Whāriki, our early childhood curriculum, drives our teaching as we follow a play-based curriculum. We support children to develop foundation skills such as literacy, numeracy, and crucial social skills like listening, sharing, and taking turns with others that are the building blocks for a life of learning.
Extending learning – Our learning environment is purposefully created and reflects our children’s interests. Teachers respond to children’s interests and look for opportunities to extend and enhance their skills and knowledge around them.
Specialist care – Our kaiako are skilled in implementing the Incredible Years Teacher Programme which supports young children with self-regulation and their social, emotional and academic competence.
Ready for school – Located right next to Rānui Primary school, we have a close connection with the school, and a great transition-to-school programme where we visit the school with our older children every term. This is also very convenient for families who have siblings attending school, making drop-off and pick-up time easier as we follow school timings.
We welcome children from the age of 2.5 years. We are open from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, following the school term and holidays. We offer 20hrs free per week, charging minimal fees for additional hours.
