Kia ora and welcome to Kingsdene Kindergarten
At Kingsdene Kindergarten we take pride in our centre, and welcome and nurture all of our tamariki and whānau. We care for tamariki aged 2-5 years old and offer 35 hours free every week for everyone.
Our values – Combined with our whānau hopes and dreams for their tamariki and our teaching teams personal philosophies, we have developed our kindergarten values. These values guide everything we do here at Kingsdene and underpin our kindergarten philosophy:
- Manaaki is a Māori concept referring to hospitality, kindness, generosity, and support, emphasising the importance of showing respect and care for others and fostering strong community relationships.
- Ako The concept of ako means both to teach and to learn. It highlights the importance of learning being a life long journey and developing a love of learning.
- Whanāu is a fundamental concept in Māori culture that refers to the idea of kinship, relationships, and a sense of family connection. It emphasises the importance of building and maintaining strong, supportive relationships based on shared experiences, history, and responsibilities.
- Mana motuhake is a phrase in the Māori language that means self determination, with the principle being autonomy and control. It highlights the importance of being in control of ones self and taking charge of their destiny.
Learning together – A focus on community involvement sets us apart from other Kingsdene childcare options. We build strong relationships with other local organisations including the nearby schools, providing a smooth transition from kindy to primary school for our tamariki.
Multiculutral – We value inclusiveness – all children and their whānau are welcome! Embracing the many cultures of New Zealand is important to our multicultural kindergarten in Kingsdene, as well as working alongside families and the community to grow our little ones into well-rounded people.
Sparking curiosity – Kindergarten prepares your child for life, both in the classroom and outside of it. We have an inviting and well thought out learning environment that encourages our little ones to discover, learn, problem-solve, observe and explore with guidance from our professional and qualified teachers.
Quality education – The the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki, helps us to nurture and educate children of all backgrounds, based around five principles of learning: wellbeing (mana atua) belonging (mana whenua), contribution (mana tangata), communication (mana reo) and exploration (mana aoturoa). Keeping in line with these principles, we provide top quality early childhood education in Kingsdene.
Here for you – Our kindergarten is a part of the wider Auckland Kindergarten Association, a long standing organisation with a charitable purpose that has nurtured the learning of many Kiwi kids for more than a century. Kindergartens have a well established reputation for innovative and creative teaching, quality learning environments and effective programmes which supports learners according to their individual needs.
We welcome you to come and visit us, we know you’ll be impressed with all we can offer you and your tamariki!
