At Favona Kindergarten tamariki are encouraged and supported as leaders of their own learning journeys. Play is valued and viewed as ākonga / learner’s work that involves curiosity, choices, problem solving, challenges, risk which are all opportunities of learning.

Through partnerships between tamariki, kaiako, whānau and hāpori, a safe, respectful, engaging learning environment is created. Shared, values, shared understandings, collaboration, communication are key.

Kaiako are professional and dedicated in their mission to provide excellent education and care. Skilled in positive guidance strategies, we work alongside tamariki noticing, recognising and responding to their interests, strengths, abilities and needs. Kaiako are guided by Te Whāriki, early childhood curriculum:

  • We view mokopuna as capable, competent and confident learners
  • Identity, language and culture are valued and celebrated
  • Our indoor and outdoor learning environments are set up to support wellbeing, belonging, contribution, exploration and communication.
  • Children are empowered to make choices, test their ideas, work alongside peers
  • Kaiako work with tamariki, whānau to achieve learning outcomes.

We are on a journey in developing sustainable practices, celebrating Papatūānuku and reflecting tikanga values throughout the curriculum.

We welcome tamariki aged 2-5 years old and offer 20hrs free every week for all ages. There are also additional subsidies you may be eligible for via WiNZ and Family Boost, we can support you with information on this.

We welcome you to visit us, meet our friendly team and see all we have to offer. Please get in touch to organise a time that suits you or feel free to drop in. We look forward to welcoming you.
