Christmas is coming! No peeping please! At Aorere, we think it is important to help our children learn about the value of giving….. and so the elves of Aorere Kindergarten are hard at work making Christmas presents for their families and whanau. I can’t tell you what they are making, but here are some clues…….

* The gifts are being painted

* They are very useful to put things in

* Silia has painted a green crocodile on hers….

* Sean painted a ticket machine

* Aaliah painted a Unicorn!

Can you guess what the gift is?

In order to make our gifts, the teachers are working closely with 1 or 2 children at a time. We are asking specific questions targeted to each child – to help them think about how they can create their own designs.

We want to foster children’s confidence in their individuality so children will have confidence in the art they create for themselves, which will be different to everybody else’s work.

It’s a lot of fun to make presents…. But it’s pretty tricky to keep them a surprise!
