At Mission Bay KIndergarten, ever since ngā tamariki engaged in our Matariki celebrations which involved learning about ngā whetū there has been a buzz about the soup we made to acknowledge the star Tupuānuku.
We invited ngā tamariki to bring in a vegetable for the soup. The children were fascinated by the variety of vegetables and the suggestion was made by the children to grow some vegetables in our gardens right here at kindergarten.
Ngā tamariki also were regularly bringing in vegetables for our bunny Indy and so our whānau decided to plant vegetables for her too!
With the appearance of Spring and the bumblebees the children wanted to feed the bees as well. Together the kaiako and tamariki are learning about how to care for and enrich Papatūānuku. We look forward to watching our plants grow and provide our learning community with food and nourishment.
