The Inspiration. Came from the ethos of our Kindergarten teachers and our diverse community.

The Shape and Form of the Design. Came from the shape of the buildings, our diverse community, Te Ao Māori, tukutuku (and later (manu tukutuku), Kiwi artists, string art and our children, their families, their words.

The Medium. Was pallets found on the side of the road and some sourced from our local supermarket, nails and wool.

Colour. Was kept simple using the 3 AKA colours. The thought was by controlling the colour palette, it created a unified piece (and of course there were a few rebels in there!).

Content. The content came from our children, their families, their stories, our community. The families have shared stories from their Marae, to grandmother’s Peruvian blankets, and magic wands – so many great stories from the children and their whānau.

The finished Piece. Signifies a community and our stories coming together.
