UPDATING

Software (such as the operating system or apps on your computer, tablet or smartphone) is never finished.  It contains flaws or vulnerabilities which can be exploited by those who write malicious software. Therefore, it is important to keep the software on all your digital devices up to date so it can be ‘patched’ to fix the flaws. Netsafe also recommends that when the software you use can no longer be updated, you should upgrade to a new version.  For example, Windows XP is no longer receiving updates, so it is time to upgrade to Windows 10.

Have you checked your devices lately to see if you are up-to-date?
