With the opening of kindergarten we were determined to make the experience for the children crossing over the threshold into kindergarten as exciting as possible. Clearly anxiety is at an all time high so we chose to focus on our relationships.
Relationships are at the heart of our philosophy. New pathways needed to be established and maintained as we continued on our new journey. Looking through the eyes of the child reminded us that slowing down, marvelling in the simple (yet vital) everyday experiences uncovered the magic that surrounds us at every possibility.
Fun, magic and wonder is integral to our collaborative culture. We showcased Huiata (online mat times), where the teachers became kindergarten TV superstars, we have Spoonville, and regular learning packs. At Te Atatū South Kindergarten, magic exploded with bubbles, potions, water fun, gardening, and laughter. Emphasising connection through fostering our relationships, conversations, listening and recognising what our tamariki needed. High Tea celebrated the end of our bubble of 10 and the beginning of a new phase as our bubble expands to 20.
