At Henderson Kindergarten, our tamariki embarked on a delightful cultural exploration journey during Chinese Language Week. They eagerly engaged in activities celebrating diversity and enriching their learning experiences. In this multicultural adventure, our children learned to appreciate various languages and traditions. They were introduced to basic Mandarin phrases and learned to sing a Chinese song.

A highlight of the week was the sensory play featuring Chinese numbers and sand. Through play, our tamariki explored these new concepts hands-on, enhancing their cognitive and motor skills. Their palpable enthusiasm shone as they experimented with paintbrushes and their fingers to write and say the Chinese numbers, fostering emergent literacy and inquiry-based learning.

This holistic educational approach expanded their cultural horizons while encouraging curiosity, a deeper understanding of the world around them, respect for diversity, and active engagement in their learning journey.
