Kia ora and welcome to Birdwood Kindergarten

Here for you – At Birdwood Kindergarten we’re here for all whānau and work together to support you and your aspirations for your child. We are inclusive and welcoming, understanding that each child learns at their own pace and in their own way. We love when parents get involved in kindy life and encourage you to stay and be a part of our day if you’d like.
Let’s explore – Tamarki are naturally curious and we fully embrace that at Birdwood Kindergarten. Whether it’s exploring their senses, our environment or discovering new ideas and learning new skills, we love exploring all types of creativity. Our expansive outdoor area allows children to actively discover and come to understand the world around them.
A place for everyone – We have a wonderful culturally diverse kindergarten and embrace the many cultures within our local community. We love to celebrate the cultural events of our tamariki, enjoying events such as Pacific language weeks, Diwali and Matariki. These events are a great way for families to get involved in kindy life, have fun and show support for each other.
Learning outdoors – Our beautiful natural outdoor environment has plenty of room for adventure and quiet times. Our great big tree provides a perfect shady spot for reading books and chatting with friends. Our bike track is another popular place where tamariki learn to master physical skills such as balance and coordination. This helps develop all sorts of other skills and attitudes such as concentration, perseverance and resilience – all such important skills they need as they grow.
Ready for school – We have a strong relationship with Birdwood School and have developed great transition to school support. There are 3 pathways to the school – Samoan, Māori and English – and we can support with building a relationship for any of these pathways. We visit the school regularly.
We welcome you to come and visit us, we’d love to meet you and show you all we have to offer.
