Kia ora and welcome to Parnell Kindergarten

Parnell Kindergarten is nestled in the heart of Alberon Palm Reserve in Parnell. We are set in beautiful grounds and have an inspiring, well resourced environment where learning thrives.

Community: We have a strong sense of community at our kindergarten and believe in fostering respectful, reciprocal relationships with children and whānau. Our kindergarten is culturally diverse and we work hard to ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging within our community. Teachers cherish the support and involvement of parents, whānau and the wider community.

Our Philosophy: Play is the means by which children make friends, play with ideas and materials, solve problems and develop passions. For this reason we truly value play-based learning. As a team we are greatly influenced by the Māori concept of manaakitanga which has led us to a strong shared belief in heart-centred teaching. We are devoted to developing kind, respectful and caring relationships with all children.

Teaching Team: We are a dedicated, positive and experienced teaching team who have created an inclusive, child-centred environment. We are proud of the warm, supportive and respectful culture we create for children and their whānau.

Environment: Our warm, friendly, inspiring environment is a place where children feel safe to make their own choices and decisions. We respect each child as an individual and believe they bring with them their own strengths, interest and passions. We empower our children to become capable, resilient and highly motivated self-directed learners, able to set their own goals and follow their own interests. Our environment reflects the dual heritage of Aotearoa as well as the many diverse cultures of children in attendance.

We welcome you to visit our kindergarten, we’d love to show you all we have to offer.

  • FROM OUR ERO REPORT

Teacher’s shared belief in child-led learning through play is evident in their practice and centre documents. They plan to make ‘the ordinary into extraordinary’ and implement a high quality programme curriculum, based on Te Whāriki.

  • FROM OUR ERO REPORT

Children are encouraged to set their own goals, discuss the process and evaluate the outcomes of learning activities. Children’s assessment records are highly valued, include their input and are often added to by families.
