We asked children how we could involve their families at kindergarten and many suggested inviting their adults to come and play. We loved this idea and a new tradition was started. The children made invitations and the adults came to share in some fun and learning. Children catered a yummy morning tea they had cooked in advance.

Whanau enjoyed playing in the soapy goop, some painted their child’s face and the bravest had a turn to have their child paint their face. Extended family had a chance to see displays of children’s artwork and read their portfolio stories about the child’s learning experiences and progress. It was wonderful to see so many family members joining in and supporting their child’s learning.
